Chapter 1
When I very first heard that The Organizer was dead, I was enjoying myself on a beach in Hawaii. I expected The Organizer on the other end of the line. In fact, when I hit the answer button on my silently vibrating phone.
“Elle? It?s Joan, I shouldn?t be telling you this more than the phone, but I believe you must know this. The Organizer… she?s… she?s… Elle, I?m so sorry but… she?s dead.”
I just sat there, unmoving, opening my mouth to say some thing, then shouting it once again when no sound came out. Tears began to fill my eyes, and I tried to keep in mind that this happened in this business.
“Elle, you need to listen to me. I called not only to let you know the horrible news, but to deliver your subsequent mission.”
I knew what it was ahead of I heard her say it on the other end.
“You need to discover him. The man who… shot her. What I’m about to say subsequent is quite important. Take the subsequent flight to Sacramento, California, and I is going to be waiting there to let you know the rest.”
And the line went dead.
I called the airline, and created the arrangements for the flight, even though I was nonetheless tear-free. But as soon as I got back to the residence, they created their escape, sliding down my cheeks.
The Organizer was the only family I had. She was the 1 who discovered me, sobbing on the streets of San Francisco, and convinced the CIA to let me into her experimental program: The Elite.
The Elite is a group of girls from the ages 15 to 25. We had been trained agents, but we could go places, unsuspected, exactly where numerous others could not go.
And I was the last recruit.
The Organizer has helped me get by way of a lot, mainly my painful past, and she became like a second mother to me. Now I would in no way see her once again.

Seven Hours Later
When I arrived in Sacramento, I looked about, appearing to be taking in my surroundings, but genuinely searching for the individual who would give me my likelihood at revenge.
And she was sitting in a cafe, reading the newspaper. I rolled my eyes, knowing that 23-year-old Joan wasn?t bothered inside the least by the tragic news. Due to her rebellious streak along with the Organizer?s strict rules, the two didn?t get along quite properly. But she was nonetheless 1 of my ideal pals.
“Joan!” I gasped out in relief, and ran to hug her.
“Elle, I’m so sorry! I knew they would get mad if I told you the details more than the phone, but I’m so sorry! I know she meant a lot to you.”
I just nodded, and we went to the CIA secure home in silence. Only until the doors had been shut as well as the security detail was in place did she finally break down.
“I got the news literally 2 hours just before you did. She was on vacation, at this lake home, which was supposed to be guarded! But somehow it wasn?t, her orders, and she was shot. We know who did it! She was wearing a camera pin, and when the extraction team went to… properly, pick her up, they recovered the footage.”
And she passed me an envelope. As I opened it, she began filling me in.
“Mr. John Coulter is the owner of Coulter Law, worth about 70 million. Naturally, it wasn?t in fact him who killed her, but we know for a fact that he hired men. We feel his motive was the fact that she stopped him, last month, from winning a case that would?ve created him even richer. He just got out of prison, in fact, for the evidence she had to convict him.”
Where have I heard that name? I believed. I know I?ve heard it somewhere just before. It sounds so familiar…
“We know exactly where he lives.” Joan continued, breaking my train of believed. “He is staying at his residence on the lake, and is going to be there until September 5th. You have 2 months to catch him. The Director doesn?t care if he?s alive or not, we have sufficient evidence already to convince anyone of his guilt. They told me to warn you. This operation will likely be a challenge for you, simply because it truly is so personal. They would?ve sent somebody else, but they decided that your motivation would be to your advantage.”
I nodded, and tried to believe of what The Organizer would say.
Don?t get your feelings involved in this type of function. It is going to only distract and hurt you.
But this time, I disagreed with her.

One Day Later
This residence was nicer than the Hawaii 1, I decided, following I had gone by means of every thing. It had windows, which was a luxury I didn?t always get.
It wasn?t as warm as Hawaii, but for a lake inside the mountains, it wasn?t half bad. I unpacked, knowing I would be there for a whilst, after which checked out the security system.
Bulletproof windows, cameras in each and every room, motion sensor, heat sensor, as well as a fingerprint lock on all of the doors. Inconvenient, but it?s saved me much more than as soon as.
Mr. Coulter wouldn?t arrive back from his business meeting until the subsequent day, so I decided to check out the public beach, about a 10-minute drive from my residence.
I changed into my white bikini, smeared tanning lotion all more than myself, and hurried to join the crowds already gathered. Most of the men and women there had been my age, but I nonetheless felt somewhat awkward.
Most of these individuals had been on summer break, went to college, had been in relationships, and had normal lives. As well as although I got opportunities they would never ever dream about finding, I envied them. A lot.
Suddenly, a girl crashed into me, tripping on the sand. I caught her by the shoulders ahead of we each went down.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry! I?m not usually this clumsy, trust me. I?m Haley, by the way.” And she grinned at me, flipping her blonde hair more than her shoulder.
“Hey! No prob. I?m Elle.”
“I was just headed more than to the volleyball nets. Wanna come?”
I nodded, and we began walking more than. Like I assumed, she had the average 22-year-old lifestyle.
We got there just as the game was starting, and soon we had been just like the rest of them, tripping more than our own feet and crashing into one another, attempting to keep the ball alive.
As I was jumping as much as spike it for the winning point, Haley bumped into me, sending the ball inside the appropriate direction, but sending me sprawled across the ground, bumping into somebody?s feet. I looked as much as apologize, but the face that was seeking at me sent shivers down my spine.
And I finally realized exactly where I had heard the name ahead of, as I stared into the eyes of Jay Coulter.

Chapter 2
It all came crashing back to me the instant I looked into his eyes. All of the memories that I had learned to block out came rushing towards me.
“You.” was all I stated. All I necessary to say.
“Elle! Elle…” he faltered when tears began to fill my eyes. “You have no concept…”
And all of the things that I hadn’t stated in three years came out at when.
“I have no concept? You do not know something. My family was dead or as good as dead! You left me all alone… I HATE YOU! I’ve missed you. I truly have.”
I knew what I was saying did not make sense, but from the appear in his eyes, I knew he understood what I was attempting to say.
“Elle, we have to talk. You will need to hear why -”
“NO! You do not deserve my time. Leave me alone… Please. You have for the last three years, I can wait somewhat longer. Like perhaps forever.”
And I ran off. I heard the individuals about us mutter amongst themselves, but I genuinely did not care. I ran all of the approach to the other beach, and somewhere along there my hair came undone, and was wet and whipping across my face.
I sat on 1 of the large rocks jutting out from the water, along with the tears streamed freely.
“Why?” I sobbed to myself. “I lost all of them! Then him. He was the only 1 I had left. Then SHE left! I cannot have anyone leave me anymore!!”
“Then perhaps you must quit running away from them.” I heard behind me.
He was standing there, gorgeous and painful as ever, his hair wet and glistening.
“I tried to talk to you. You by no means answered your phone or emails. I finally figured which you did not want to talk, so I stopped.”
“Nut then why did not you assist me the very first time! You essentially told me I was on my own. And in the event you do not bear in mind our last conversation, I DID let you know I did not want to talk. Why am I even here at this time? I need to go…”
I stood up and walked off. I turned about, but he wasn’t following me, just staring right after me.
I ran all of the way back to the home, and into my room exactly where I collapsed onto my bed.
